Stone laid for expansion of Visakhapatnam Airport
Defence Minister Mr. George Fernandes laid the stone for the expansion of airport in Visakhapatnam. Mr. Fernandes exuded confidence that Visakhapatnam would emerge as the gateway for passengers from the East and Far-East. He lauded the efforts made by the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the BJP President Venkaiah Naidu.

The Naxalites of the outlawed People's War Group blasted the forest guest house in Ramapuram mandal of Cuddapah. The Naxals left behind a letter in the name of the CPI(ML) PW's Papaghni Squad Area Committee which alleged that the police used the guest house for the interrogation of naxal sympathizers and dacoits.

Police arrested seven naxal sympathizers in Vizianagaram and took them into custody. According to CI, Mr. C. Murali Naidu, they seized one S.B.M.L. barrel gun and a revolutionary literature.

Former Secretary of State Legislature Venkatesan passes away
C. Venkatesan, former Secretary of the State Legislature passed away. He is 71 and survived by his wife and seven sons. Venkatesan who suffered a massive stroke, died soon after being admitted in the Apollo Hospitals. The Speaker, K. Prathibha Bharathi, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over his death.

The two-day 11th Annual Convention of the American Federation of Muslims of Indian Origin started in Hyderabad. Inaugurating the Convention, Ram Vilas Paswan said both Muslims and Dalits continued to be backward due to lack of proper education.
