Athletics Andhra Pradesh bagged four gold, one silver and one bronze in athletics events in the National Games at Hyderabad. Two meet records were also set. Hockey Hayana beat Punjab and Jharkand wins over Andhra Pradesh in Pool A Matches of Hockey. In Pool B Matches, Maharashtra and Chandigarh reaches semifinals beating Orissa and Delhi respectively. Archery Dola Banerjee wins a gold medal for Jharkhand in Archery. In the finals, Services leads with 239 pts followed by Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand in second and third place respectively. Tennis Andhra Pradesh won over Karnataka in the final of Women's Tennis and clinched the women's team tennis title. Sania Mirza (Andhra Pradesh) beats Archana Venkataraman(Karnataka) 6-4, 6-2 and Manisha Malhotra(Andhra Pradesh) beats Sheetal Gautham (Karnataka) 6-1, 6-7 (10-12), 7-5. Weightlifting The Host Andhra Pradesh won two golds in Weightlifting event held at the Port's Kalavani auditorium in Visakhapatnam. Rowing The Services team won all the four golds in Men's Rowing event. The Andhra Pradesh women won three out of the four golds in Women's Rowing event. Table Tennis West Bengal won over Assam in Women's semifinal of Table Tennis. In the Men's event Tamil Nadu beats Rajasthan and Bengal won over Andhra Pradesh. Yachting In the Yachting event held in Visakhapatnam, Ayaz Sheikh and Sandip Jain of Services team assured of winning gold medals in the 420 class of the National Games.
The Naxalites of People's War Group blasted a telephone exchange in Sampathnagar of Khammam. About 15 naxalites and an equal number of militants blasted the exchange using detonators around 3 a.m. The ABVP staged a protest at the office of the A.P. State Council of Higher Education demanding the Government to begin B.Ed Counselling. The ABVP Secretary K.
