Indian President declares 32nd National Games open The Indian President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam arrived at Hyderabad on a 2-day visit. He was given a red-carpet welcome at the Begumpet Airport. Governor of Andhra Pradesh Dr. C Rangarajan and other officials themselves were welcomed the President this morning. Later the President took part an inauguration program of a social-welfare group and also inaugurated the 32nd National Games at the Gachibowli Stadium at the Sports Village. The President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam called for the empowerment of women. Inaugurating the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development of the Association of Lady Entrepreneurs of Andhra Pradesh near Kukatpally in Hyderabad, he said the country's GDP of 5 per cent had to be doubled in the next few years. Dr. Kalam praised the ALEAP president, K Ramadevi's dream of establishing by 2005-06 one hundred estates with 4000 industries. Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu counseled women to develop self-confidence and said if women entrepreneurs perform well, they can dominate men.
