PCC demands Rs. 1000 Crores to Center as aid for fighting drought situation in the state
PCC President Mr. M Satyanarayana Rao asked the Center to release Rs. 1000 Crores to fight the sever drought situation in the state. He took part in a 1-day hunger strike program at the Gandhi Statue in Secunderabad. He felt that the Chief Minister has been wasting money in the form on Chaduvula Panduga when the state is fighting at drought situation. Congress Members Ms. Sarojini Pulla Reddy, Mr. Sudhakar Reddy, Kumar Yadav, Nagendar and others took part in the strike.

CM orders probe into diversion of rice of Food-for-Work program
Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu ordered probe into the diversion of rice meant for Food-for-Work program in West Godavari District in which Minister Sri Kottapalli Subba Raidu's name was involved for asking the Police to leave the seized lorry. Speaking at a Press Conference at Visakhapatnam, he said that the Government is clear in regard to the program and that any misappropriations at any levels will not be allowed.

Chief Minister will be leaving for a 3-day tour to Malaysia and Singapore so as to promote the state for Investment and Industries. Among the delegation that will go along with the CM includes Major Industries Minister Sri K Vidhyadhara Rao, Principal Secretary of Industries, MD of APIIC.

Minister for Major Industries, Commerce and Export Promotion, Mr. Kotagiri Vidhadhar Rao said that the Andhra Pradesh is implementing Very Large Scale Integrated Circuit Master of Science (VLSIMS) as Engineering Courses for the first time in the country to meet the requirements of the industry. He said that these courses are to increase the efficiency, quality so as to compete in World markets. The first batch of this course consists of 25 students.

The State Unit of CPI Mr. Survaram Sudhakar Reddy asked the Center for an enquiry by a Supreme Court judge into allotment of petrol bunks. He asked for an enquiry instead of blaming the opposing party members. He suggested for an all party delegation to be sent for Delhi so as to give proper representation. He spoke with the press in Visakhapatnam.

CEO of Prasara Bharathi Mr. K Subrahmanyam Sharma was in Hyderabad and took part in a meeting with the Cable Operators Associations. He said that Doordarshan has a responsibility as a public broadcaster and was committed to provide the citizens to get right kind of information and entertainment. He asked Cable Operators to present Doordarshan said they will continue to present 3 channels in its prime band. Mr. Prabhakar Reddy, talking from the Cable Operators side said that they are indeed presenting the channels in most cases. Police Commissioner Mr. Krishna Rao said that action will be taken on Cable operators if they fail to present the 3 channels as per the law.

APSRTC Employee Unions said that their members will go on a relay hunger strike on August 22, 23 to seek implementation of the agreement arrived at during the last strike between the Management and the Union.
