Parliamentary Standing Committee on drought begins work The Parliamentary Standing Committee looking into the drought situation in the State met today and discussed on the situation in the state. It took into account the drought in 22 districts. Relief Commissioner Mr. DC Rosayya expressed satisfaction and said that the committee has identified in needs of the state. He said that the State Government is asking for additional funds than the already allocated Rs. 220 Crores. Mr. SS Palani Manikyam said that the report of the Parliamentary Committee will be sent to the Parliament at the earliest and that additional funds as required will be allocated upon the Committee's recommendation. Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for the newly proposed Income Tax Towers in Hyderabad. The Income Tax Department said that it is proposing to increase the tax payers from 3% to 5% in the next 2 years. Chief Minister requested the Center to see that at least 50% of the recoveries would be spent for the development of the State.
