State Cabinet meets
The State Cabinet met today headed by Chief Minister Mr. Chandrababu Naidu to take a decision on organising elections for Irrigation Committees in the next month. Information Minister Mr. Somireddy Chandramohana Reddy told a press conference that the Government has decided to decrease the span of the committee from the existing 5 year tenure to 3 years. The Cabinet also decided to setup private Agriculture and Veterinary Colleges in the state. The Cabinet decided that a society will contain 12 members.

The Cabinet meet also felt that the Food-for-Work program is indeed giving good results and that the Government need not worry at the comments by opposition parties. They said that about 5 - 10% of disruptions to any program are common.

Mathematics University for Hyderabad needed
Mathematician Mrs. Sakunthala Rani asked the Chief Minister in Hyderabad to allocate some land for setting up at International Standard University in Mathematics. She said that Tamil Nadu and Karnataka can also get benefited with Affiliate colleges that teach Mathematics and that Seminars and Workshops on Mathematics can be conducted more often.

The 23rd Biannual Convention of National Federation of Indian Railways was held in Visakhapatnam. Leaders of the Federation from all round the country took part in the meet. They felt that the formation of new Railway zones was to make Railways divided.

Rs. 70 Crores for Godavari Pushkarams
The State Government said that it will be allocating a total of Rs. 70 Crores to meet the expenditure and arrangements for the Godavari Pushkarams that will be held in next year. As a part of this, the first third part of the funds will be released this year.

Former Prime Minister Sri Rajiv Gandhi remembered
Former Prime Minister Sri Rajiv Gandhi Birth Anniversary was observed in all areas of the State. PCC President Sri M Satyanarayana Rao garlanded to the statue of Rajiv Gandhi in Hyderabad. CLP Leader Dr. Y S Rajasekhar Reddy took part in programs in Visakhapatnam.

The CEC announced that new Identification Number will be given to Life Term Bheema Members. Chairman of CEC Mr. NG Sharma said in Hyderabad that they appointed 7 Lakh new agents and said that new policies will be announced in the market soon. He expressed satisfaction on the performance.
