Indonesian President Mrs. Megawati Sukarnoputri visits Andhra

President of Indonesia Mrs. Megawati Sukarnoputri visited Andhra Pradesh on a 1-day tour. She was welcomed by Governor Dr C Rangarajan, Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu and his cabinet team at the Hyderabad International Airport. She and her team were impressed with the E-Governance system being developed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. She visited the Hitech City at Madhapur. Minister Sri K Vijayarama Rao said that the President's visit will open a new door for Indian Software Developers to develop computer solutions for populous countries such as Indonesia. Governor hoisted a dinner for the Indonesian Guests. Mrs Megawati later left for Delhi. Chief Minister Sri Chandrababu Naidu said that the State Government will be introducing Smart Governance in May.

House and Professional Taxes relaxed

Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu has held a Cabinet Meet to discuss on the recent hike in house tax. Municipalities Minister Sri NMD Farooq said that the Government has decided to relax the House Tax and Professional Tax introduced in Municipalities and Corporations from April 1, 2002 to certain extent.

AICC not keen for change in PCC Presidentship

AICC Senior Leaders discussed about the state of Congress in Andhra Pradesh today in New Delhi. State AICC Secretary Smt Ambika Soni said that there will not be any change in the leadership at the latest and that they are committed to fight against the anti-farmer reforms in the state. CLP Leader Dr Rajasekhar Reddy said that ideologically Congress party in the state is committed and that there could be short term differences in ideas and that it will not effect the performance of the party. He said that there will be differences since every one has right to speak on their views and that this does not mean that the Congress is not united.

TDP Committed for uninterrupted power - says Mr. Naidu

TDP Party President Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu said that the Government is committed to provide uninterrupted power capacity by August 10, 2002. He felt dissatisfied with the Center in regard to the funds to be released under the Food for Work program. He spoke at the 19th Batch Training Program of Telugu Desam Party Workers in Hyderabad.

AITUC said that they will stage a demonstration on April 6, 2002 against Government's anti-worker reforms.
CPM Secretary Sri B V Raghavulu said that they will fight against the power tarrif and house tax hike by the Telugu Desam Party united with CPI and other Left parties. He said that they will intensify by demonstrating and staging seminars, rastha rokhos and picketing from all areas of the state.
One Person were killed in clashes in between two rival groups in Kunchanapalle village in Guntur - Vijayawada.
Minister for Industries, Mr. Kotagiri Vidyadhara Rao felt that the Engineer of AP Pollution Control Board has given fault readings of the sulphuric acid mist into atmosphere by the Coromandel Fertilizers. The Minister visited the plant and warned the management to ensure that no leakages that could atmosphere should happen.
