About 48 of the CPI-ML Ranadhir Group from Karimanagar surrendered before the Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu. Chief Minister said that he was happy at the change in the minds of the Naxals and that a special package will be provided to them and that special arrangements will be made from the District administration. He said that enough has been done from the side of the Government. He left the chance to the Peoples War Group for surrendering before the police.
Union Minister for Home Affairs Mr. Vidyasagar Rao said that he is not aware of giving money to a tune of Rs. 1 Crores to Janashakti Naxals for the release of Mr. Marthanda Rao who was a relative of Mr. Vidyasagar Rao kidnapped recently. He spoke with the press in Hyderabad. It may be recalled that Marthanda Rao was kidnapped in October last. A reporter of a telugu daily acted as a 'go-between' for Rajanna and relatives of Mr. Marthanda Rao.
The death toll in yesterdays Lorry accident in Nirmal now reached to 38. Many of the persons died on their way to hospitals as there were no medical facilities nearby. Some of the injured were also sent to Hyderabad.
