Six persons including an Armed Reserved Sub-Inspector in the Escort jeep of Minister Sri Tummala Nageswara Rao collied with an oil tanker near Kusumanchi in Khammam District. The accident occurred when an empty Oil Tanker from Bangalore on its way to Srikakulam hit the Escort jeep of the Minister. None of them in the jeep survived the accident. The Minister's Car driver got alerted when the Oil Tanker's Driver seems to be out of control of vehicle and averted a collision. The Jeep that followed closely however could not see think and was hit.
Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu inspected the works of the new 'D' block of the Secretariat. This new block will be ready by November. The construction work was done by Lawrence and Toubro.
South Central Railway has won the Best Railway Zone award for Safety and in Signaling and Communications for the year 2001-02.
A Cotton Farmer who found himself of no way to pay his debts has committed suicide by consuming pesticide that used to kill insects of his crop. Mr. Raji Reddy (31) has a severe set back when his cotton crop in the six acres of land failed for the last 3 years.
