Minister Mr. Damodar Reddy said that EAMCET 2002 Examination will not be postponed for this year and that all arrangements for the same were completed. He said that the Government has looked into all aspects and came out with this decision. He promised however, that from next year, the minimum gap between the EAMCET and IIT JEE Examinations will be Atleast 15 days. It may be recalled that both Political parties and Student - Parent Associations have asked the Government repeatedly to postpone the examinations so that they may be conducted after the completion of IIT JEE.

As many as 10 women died and many more injured when a tractor fell into a river let near Venaktpuram in Prakasam district.

Congress members staged a dharna against the power tariff hike in Medak and Karimnagar district. Senior Congress leaders including the PCC President Sri M Satyanaryana Rao, Legislator from Jagityala Mr. T Jeevana Reddy, NSUI President Mr. Ponnam Prabhakara Reddy and other members in large numbers began dharna. However Police restored to lathi charge and many of the members were injured in the incident.

The Nizamabad Police has recovered a screen printing unit of the Peoples War Group in the Revutla forest area under Sirikonda Police Station limits.

The University Grants Commission has sanctioned Rs. 50 Lakhs for the construction of Platinum Jubliee Guest House to Andhra University. Registrar Prof J M Naidu thanked the UGC and for the same.
