Governor chosen to receive Padma Vibhushan
Governor of Andhra Pradesh Dr. C Rangarajan has been chosen for this year's Padma Vibhushan award, the country's second-highest civilian honor.

The Telugu Desam Party won the Municipal Elections in Hyderabad, Rajahmundry, Tirupati and Markapur. The TDP nominee, Teegala Krishna Reddy elected Mayor after beating his nearest rival Mir Zulfer Ali of Majlis. The Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party President Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu congratulated Mr. Krishna Reddy and reposed confidence in those that worked for development.

A train with empty coaches derailed in Tirupati at the Tirupati East railway station. It was meant to be attached to the Kakinada passenger.

Gottipati Kondappa Naidu, a prominent TDP leader and former MLA of Kavali passed away at Hyderabad. He also served as Vice-Chairman of the Nellore Zilla Parishad.

M Shankar Rao, Circle Inspector of Police committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver at Vizianagaram. It was reported that the Inspector committed suicide due to some family disputes where he ended up his life in his relative's house at Vizianagaram.
