Ms. Sonia Gandhi distributes cheques to families of dead farmers
All India Congress Party President Ms. Sonia Gandhi visited Anantapur and met the family members of the farmers who committed suicide. She later addressed a gathering where she criticized the BJP and TDP Governments for their Ani-Farmer policies. She distributed cheques of Rs. 22,222 to each family out of the Rs. 25 lakhs fund being collected by the Congress. CLP Leader Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy said that TDP is playing a 'political gimmick' and failed to provide the long term needs of the people.
SI escapes from PWG attack
The Sub-Inspector of Police of Machavaram Police Station in Guntur - Mr. Y Srinuvasa Rao has a miraculous escape when six persons believed to be from People's War Group attacked him few minutes after he left his house. The six people attacked just 100 meters away from his house and are believed to be waiting for him. Their bullets hit the headlights of motor cycle while another went into the seat. Meanwhile, Director General of Police Sri Pervaram Ramulu asked the police to take proactive measure to protect themselves if PWG continued to act in this manner.
20 dead when two lorries collides
20 persons returning from a marriage party died while 30 more escaped with injuries near Nirmal in Adilabad when two lorries collided. The injured were admitted in Nirmal and Nizamabad District Headquarter Hospitals.
CM inaugurates Sri Venkateswara Pranadhata Trust
Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the Sri Venkateswara Pranadhata Trust which is aimed at providing Medical and Health facilities to the poor. Sri Krishnayya of TTD said that about Rs. 100 Crores can be mobilized for the trust.
All arrangements for EAMCET completed
EAMCET Convener said that all arrangements for EAMCET were completed and that the processing of the results will begin from April 30. The results will be made available probably on May 21. This years result along with marks will be posted on the Internet. EAMCET Questions papers were put in District Treasury in various districts and that all security arrangements were completed.
Senior Congress Leader and Former Minister Mr. Judupudi Prabhakara Rao died shortly after midnight. He is survived with a son and three daughters. His body was taken to his hometown of Amalapuram for rituals.
Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated TTD's Piligrim Amenities Complex at Alipiri in Tirupati. Endowments Minister Sri D Sivarama Raju and TTD EO Mr. P Krishnaiah were present.

7 dead bodies of people who lost their lives in a road accident in Sala, Oman were received at the Hyderabad Airport today. Arrangements were made to send these dead bodies to their relatives.
Officials of the Board of Intermediate conducted a raid on St. Joseph College in Miyapur, Guntur and took over some documents from the college.
Over 100 houses were guttered in a fire accident at Banagpur in Nizamabad district.
