CM inaugurates Anti Child-Labour program at Kuppam

Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated a program againt Child-Labour at Kuppam in Chittor district. This project will help children from the surrounding 47 villages to come and study.

Telangana Rasthra Samithi celebrated its first anniversary today in Warangal. TRS President Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao commented that Congress was responsible for the lack of development in the Telangana Area and felt sorry for supporting TDP earlier.

High Court directs State Government to give information to CBI in regard to Prathyusha's case

Justice Mothi Lal Nayak and Justice Mothi of High Court asked the State Government to provide necessary information for the CBI in regard to the death of Ms. Prathyusha. The court also provided Interim bail to Mr. Siddardha for 4 days to allow him to appear for his Engineering examinations. The next hearing for the case will be on June 7.

Andhra University celebrates its Foundation Day

Andhra University Celebrated its Foundation Day today. The University was serving the educational needs of the region for over 76 years. The University was formed by Sri Kattamanchi Ramalinga Reddy. Vice Chancellor of AU, Prof Simhadri garlanded the statue of Sri Kattamanchi at a program held at the University this morning.

Jaya Prakash Narayan selected for Yudh Veer Award

Mr. Jaya Prakash Narayan of Lok Satta was selected to receive Yudh Veer Award from Yudh Veer Foundation for the year. He will be presented the award by Governor Dr Ranga Rajan. Mr. Jaya Prakash was selected for the award for his fight against corruption and addressing social problems.

Intermedia board announces Admission and Exam schedule for 2002-03

The Board of Intermediate Studies announced the Admission and Exam schedule for 2002-03. Applications for the Admissions into 1st year will be beginning from May 10 and the last date for the submission of the same will by May 23. First list of Admissions will be displayed on May 27 and the second on May 30 while the third will be displayed on June 1. The last date for closing of admissions will be on June 4 and the Colleges will reopen on June 5. The First Term will be running from June 5 - Oct 7, Second between Oct 17 - Apr 4, 2003. The Practical Examinations will be commencing on Jan 11 till Jan 19, 2003 and theory exams from Mar 14, 2003.

DIETCET Applications from April 30

The State Convener of DIETCET said that sale of applications for the exam will be available for sale from April 30 and that last date for receiving applications is May 1.

The Joint Action Committee of Employee Associations of APTransco, AP Genco and DISCO demanded for the immediate implementation of modified pay scale and asked the Government to look into 7 of its important demands.
A 6-day training program for drivers began in Hyderabad today. The program was intended to train drivers on methods to avoid accidents and safety measures besides trying to change their mindset. An estimate said that about 90% of the road accidents in Andhra Pradesh occur because of drivers fault.
A Senior Intermediate student from a private college committed suicide yesterday in Vijayawada. Mr Venkata Kishore was found to have dead yesterday evening in his room. The reason for his death was not yet known and police investigation is on.
Students at Kakatiya University staged dharna asking for the postponement of yearly exams with the Government releasing notification for DSC. Registrar Bhaskar Rao agreed accordingly in the interest of the students.
State Level Carroms Tournaments began at Tirupati. The competitions will be held for 4 days.
Andhra Kabaddi Foundation said that it will hold competitions in Kurnool during November this year. 31 Men and 28 Women teams will be participating in the competitions.
