Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated an Mobile Exhibition celebrating Earth Day this morning. He said that the State Government is considering increasing Motor Vehicle tax and the funds thus generated will be used for Anti-Pollution activities. He said that Environment Protection Act will be implemented from June.
He also took part in a program held at Jubliee hills and said that the Government will be implementing Water - Land and Tree Ordinance very strictly and welcomed people for discussion on the topic. He said that strict action will be taken on any one who violates it. He said that all Government vehicles that have been in use for over 15 years of service will be taken off from roads and that special chapters at school level will be added to create awareness to students on pollution and its effects.
Minister Sri Pocharam Srinuvasa Rao took part in Earth Day Celebrations and said that Government will take strict action who fails to replace a destroyed tree with two plantations.
TDP Candidate Mr. Paila Mutyalanaidu won by 1 vote in Steering Committee elections of Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation.
The 18th Andhra State Inter-District Hockey Tournament concluded today in Visakhapatnam. Cuddapah beat Chitoor and won the trophy.
6 persons died in a road accident in which the Tata Sumo from Tirupati in which they were traveling hit a lorry in Prakasam. The dead were believed to be residents of Talluru area.
Congress members began relay hunger strike in Hyderabad demanding the immediate dismissal of Narendra Modi Government in Gujarat. Former CLP President Mr. T Janardhan presided at the strike.
Dharnas also were held by the Congress in Karimanagar in which Mr. Ponnam Prabhakar present. Relay Hunger strike by Congress members were held in Vijayawada demanding the stepping down of Mr. Narendra Modi Government.
Telangana Congress Steering Panel was constituted with Mr. Mallikarjun as its chairman. Mr. A Indrakaran Reddy will be its convener.
