Maa TV begins broadcast
Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated a new Telugu Television Channel - Maa TV at Lalitha Kala Thoranam in Hyderabad today. Speaking at the inaugural function, he said that this is the 3rd telugu channel under private sector and this indicates how fast the state is developing.
Criminal Case against Youth Congress members
Congress activists staged a dharna in Guntur demanding for the immediate decrease of Power tariffs in the state. They also attacked an Electricity Sub-Station causing damage to office furniture and a Department lorry. Criminal Cases were filed against Youth Congress members. They also burnt the effigy of Mr. Chandrababu Naidu.
CM inaugurates Vignanan Jyothi College campus
Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the College Campus of Vignanan Jyothi Engineering Campus in Rangareddy today. Speaking at the inauguration function, he said that the Government is looking after increase of Engineering colleges in the state. He suggested that colleges have to provide training as required by the industry and that they have to have tie up with industries to show employment opportunities.
Bundh in Tirupati
Bundh was observed in Tirupati by Congress, CPI and CPM against hike in house tax. PCC Member Venkata Ramana said that many of the shops were closed today and that the show owners themselves came forward supporting them. Congress Leader Mr. Karunakara Reddy also observed bundh separately. Special arrangements were held keeping view of interest of out side visitors to Tirupati
Mahila Congress stages dharna at Siddipet
Mahila Congress staged a Dharna in Siddipet against the Anti-people steps by the Telugu Desam Party. Its President Mrs. Geeta Reddy said that women votes were the major with Chandrababu Naidu has won his elections and that they were being deceived and that he is showcasing women programs only with a political intention. PCC President Sri M Satyanaryana Rao was also present in the demonstration.
NAAC begins evaluating Andhra University
A Six-member team from NAAC, Bangalore visited the Andhra University and began evaluating the performance of various Department's at the University.
Union Minister Sri Krishnam Raju said that Mr. Murali Mohan's effort in development of this new channel was a great and felt that the channel provides quality entertainment for Telugu people.
Home Minister Sri Devandar Goud wished that the channel should focus on the society and develop the programs accordingly. He said that some channels have been showing horror that not only children but also the adults are getting horrified to a very high extent and that this should be limited. He said that this creates employment opportunity.
Chairman of AP State Film Development Corporation said that Entertainment has become a National habit.
Sri Chandra Mohan Reddy asked the channel to focus on the village community and bring their problem to the Government.
The Telugu and Urdu Versions of Ms. Sonia Gandhi's speech in Parliament against the POTO (Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance) in the Parliament was brought out as a booklet by Sri V Hanumantha Rao, Secretary, AICC.
Cricket Star Sehwag was in Hyderabad to begin training program summer. The camp was organised by Senior Cricket Mr. Arshad Ayub.
