100% Literacy in state by 2005

Chief Minister Sri Chandrababu Naidu asked the State Literacy Mission to draw a strategy for complete literacy in the state by 2005. He said that "Total Literacy in the state" is his goal. He addressed at the 35th World Literacy Day Celebrations.

AP files Affidavit in Supreme Court
The State Government will file an counter affidavit on the recent stay requested by the Karnataka Government in Supreme court to stop the projects on Krishna river. The Government held an all party meet today and discussed on the Governments plan on the counter affidavits. Support to the Government on this issue was given by all parties in the meet. The counter affidavit will be filed on 10th of this month.

4 Lakh Acres of land to be auctioned
The Government has decided to sell the 4 lakh acres of land through auction according to the recent order by the Supreme Court. Minister Mr. Dandu Sivarama Raju said that preference will be given to farmers and the land will be sold to them at 75% of market rate and money will be collected in 4 installments.

Prime Minister Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee presented an award to the district of West Godavari for producing the best literacy rate in a very short time.

Two Casual Laborers were killed as Trivendrum - Mumbai Express ran over them at a railway bridge over Penna River in Anantapur.

Four Undertrails including the central organiser of a local naxal group escaped from the Gooty Sub-Jail of Anantapur on Friday night.

A Section Commander of the Peoples War Group Naxals surrendered before the SP of Nizamabad district.
