National Commission for Children to be setup in the state

Union Minister Sri Murali Manohar said that National Commission for Children will be setup up for the state. The Commission has a 7 members and will look into implementation of planning for Children, Schemes for Education for All. He denied allegations of safronising of Education system. He also said that the Central Government is working from time to time to see that the Indian Education system stands at the top.

NTPC begins its work for 7th Unit
The National Thermal Power Corporation began working on its 7th unit of power generation which gives a capacity of 500 MW out of which Andhra Pradesh gets 146 MW additional power. GM of NTPC, Ramagundam, Mr. K Prakasha Rao said that the total work was divided into 8 packages and that the Construction works will be given to BHEL and private companies. The construction works will be completed by 2004.

Punayya Commission to be released shortly
Minister Mrs. J Pushpaleela said that Justice Punayya Commission report will be released to the public shortly.

Senior Congress Leader and MP Mr. S Jaipal Reddy visited met the family members of Mr. Veerayya was recently killed by rival party members. He said that the necessary compensation for the family members will be provided shortly.

Members of Farmer Society of Udai Giri, Nellore staged a Dharna at the MRO Office. They demanded the immediate sale of their produce.

Tirupati Telecom Directory released
The Tirupati Telephone Directory 2000-01 was released by Mr. Ch Narayana Swamy today. He said that the Telecom District is constantly upgrading its technology and is planning immediate telephone connections in the district shortly.

4 naxals of the Peoples War Group surrendered before the SP of Warangal. Meanwhile, 2 more naxals were also arrested by the police.

5 persons of the same family tried to commit suicide in Nellore. The locale immediately found out that the members of the family were in an unconscious state and alerted the police.

Two farmers committed suicide by consuming pesticides in Warangal district. Inability of payment of dues for loans was believed to be the reason for their suicide.

The Maddem Dalam of the Peoples War Group Naxals attacked a group of Police Constables and killed one at Ussor Police Station limits of Khammam.

The Dharmavaram - Secunderabad Express Train No : 7004 was flagged off by MP Sri Yerram Naidu at the Dharmavaram Railway Station.
