Indian Scientists recorded yet another milestone by successfully launching PSLV C3 which carried 3 Satellites into the space for Srihari Kota Rocket Center in Andhra Pradesh at about 10:30 AM. The count down procedure for this launch began 3 days ago. Special Security measures were taken in view of attacks by Naxals and Terrorist groups. Prime Minister Sri A B Vajpey congratulated the Scientists on their effort. The Satellites carried by PSLV included that of Belgium and Russia. Earlier, ISRO tried launching GSLV Launch Vehicle on April 18, 2001.
The Strike by APSRTC Employee Unions reached 8th day with not many bus services running. The new loss for APSRTC due to the strike now reached to Rs. 60 Crores.
Violence maars at APSRTC Stike
The strike of APSRTC Employee Unions turned violent when the MLA from Rajahmundry, Secretary and other activists of the left parties and the Employee Unions stopped busses from the RTC Complex in Rajahmundry. The Driver of an APSRTC bus was injured and police arrested over 100 people in this connection. Similar action was taken up by the police in Vijayawada, Prakasam, Ongole, Nellore and other areas.
A ZPTC Member of Telugu Desam Party, Mr. Syed Abdul Kalam from Adilabad was shot at by the Naxals of the Peoples War Group in late night. He however escaped with injuries.
Chief Minister Sri Chandrababau Naidu inaugurated a Seminar n Civil Registration of Births and Deaths in Hyderabad. He felt concern over the decrease in the number of birth registrations in the state and asked the authorities to see that the same be more concentrated.
