Central team visits flood affected areas

Chief Minister and TDP Party Leader Sri Chandrababu Naidu said that Party members have to tell the people on the implications of APSRTC Employee Unions and Junior Doctors recent strike. He asked the party members to explain the public about the Untouchability program which was recently started by the Government. He began a 2-day workshop at NTR Bhavan, Hyderabad.

Central Team visited various flood effected areas
A 5 Member Central Team visited various parts of the Flood Effected areas of the state. They visited many areas in Nellore district and also saw photos set up at an exhibition. It is expected that the report of the team is expected to determine how much funds will be allocated for Andhra Pradesh. The funds are expected to come for the Penna River water management works and the repair works for NH 5. The team is headed by Mr. O P Sharma. Nellore District Collector Mr. Anantharam was along with the team.

Govt. to intensify food grain procurement
The State Government said that it will intensify procurement of rice and other food grains from November 10, 2001. An all-party meet was held today at the Secretariat. Minister Sri Janardhan said that a committee will be formed with 2 farmers and a miller to determine the price for Fair Average Quality rice. However, BJP said that Commission Agents were taking over 3% in Costal Andhra and that this operation may cause concern. Andhra Pradesh Congress spokesman, Sri Rosayya said that food grain procurement should be carefully done keeping in views of the bad experiences that the Government faced in last year.

Congress & Left Parties call for state wide bandh
Congress party said that the Chief Minister Mr. Chandrababu Naidu was looking for privatisation of APSRTC and that his comment that he will not be involved in the issue was totally ridiculous. Mr. Hanumantha Rao said that the Government was not purely interested in bringing about a quick solution to the issue. Meanwhile, PCC called for state-wide Bandh on November 8, 2001 in support of APSRTC Employee Unions. It called for a public discussion or poll under the Lotsatta on the issue.

9 Left Parties also said that they will also call for a state wide bandh. Speaking a press conference, Sri Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy said that they were

12 people of DJS arrested in Hyderabad
12 people of DJS were arrested and brought before the XVI Metropolitan Court in Hyderabad. They were held under Section 147,153 for getting trained with arms under the name of Jihad or Holy War. They were directed to be put under remand till November 9, 2001.

Dont worry about POTO Act - says Ministers
Union Minister Sri M Venkiah Naidu said that POTO Act was inevitable and that the Central Government will work to see that no wrong will be done due to this act. He inaugurated Drinking Water facility at Pasarlapudi in East Godavari which would be used by 50,000 people which was constructed at a cost of Rs. 8 Lakhs. Union Minister Sri Bandaru Dattatreya said that a fair discussion/debate on POTO Act and that the Media or the Public need not worry on it. He visited the State BJP office in Hyderabad today.

The Madiga Dandora said that it is high time that Dalits have to work for a state of their own. It demanded for quick allotment of lands for Dalits, providing facilities in Dalit areas besides others.

12 Naxals including 7 from the People War Group and 4 from CPI-ML Janashalti group and 1 from Prathigatana Group surrendered before the police in Karimnagar.

A Book entitled "Citizens Guide to fighting corruption" in Telugu was launched by Sri Ramavatar Yadav, Director General ACB at a function at Visakhapatnam as a part of Vigilance Awareness Week. The meet was organised by Forum for Anti Corruption.

The Deputy Inspector General ( Prisons ), Rayalaseema Region Mr. T V Ramanarsaiah and four other employees of the Prisons Department were dismissed from services by the Government for their corrupt practices.

Two persons were killed when a private bus and a taxi collided in Tirupati.

Naxals of the CPI-ML Janashakti Group and the Police forces exchanged fire at the borders of Warangal - Khammam Districts. No causalities were reported.
