State Congress begins Rastha Roho and Bandh programmes against State & Central Governments policies

The State Congress began its Road Rastha Rokho and Bandh programmes against State and Central Governement's Policies in regard to the Farmers and Weaver community. Congress member Mr. Janardan Reddy was arrested and later released. PCC staged a Rastha Rokho at Maddilipalem in Visakhapatnam. State PCC President Sri M Satyanarayana Rao visited Visakhapatnam this morning and took part in the Rastha Rokho programme. Sri T Subbarami Reddy, Sri Sabbam Hari and other leaders took part in the programme. Some people who were causing serious inconvenience were taken into custody by the police and were later released.

Members of the CPI also staged Dharnas Opposite Collectorates in various districts. They demanded that ex-gratia be given to the family members of farmers who committed suicide.
Police of Mahaboobnagar district caught a group of Naxals belonging to the Karnataka Peoples War Group who were planning to blast police Stations located in the border of the two states last night. The naxals were caught near Gadwal Madel and weapons were seized from them.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu conducted a Video Conference with officials of various districts to discuss about the Neeru Meeru programme. He asked the Engineers to count the water levels in the bores in every Panchayat and that this process should be done every month. He also asked that to check the Water levels in various Districts.
Home Minister Sri Devendar Goud made a surprise visit to various Police Stations in Hyderabad today. He also visited the Police Transport Organisation near Court and said that the vehicles at the office have to put to use or disposed if they are found to be useless. He said that there is a need to check the Law of the PTO and it is time to revamp it. He was surprised that not even a single case has been registered in Sultanpur police station for the last 3 days. He also verified the police records in the station.
The bail petition by Mrs. Anita Sen was postponed by the Metropolitan Court for tomorrow.
Tirupati Gangamma Utsavam's began in Tirupati. The Utsavams ( Jaatara ) will be held till May 15th.
Naxals of the Peoples War Group killed 2 people who are believed to be Police informers in Mupanapalle of Warangal District.
The results of CEEP 2001 - the Common Entrance Test for Admissions to various Polytechnic colleges will be released on 9 May 2001.
A Trainer Aircraft - Kiran 0774 crashed in the fields of Medak in the early hours of the day. The pilot escaped few seconds before the crash.
