Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the state-run television channel christened Mana TV. The channel is opened on Ku-Band. The channel can be accessed from 255 centers and will be upgraded to run in full phases by June. The channel will carry various programs for the benefit of the people of Andhra Pradesh. Amongst the programs on schedule on this channel including programs on Education and Agriculture. Speaking at the inauguration, Mr Naidu said that all steps were taken to bring Internet connectivity and video-conferance facilities for about 8000 schools in the state to get.
People celebrated the Telugu New Year - Ugaadi today. People were seen taking the Ugaadi patchadi (the Ugaadi pickle) and visiting temples early in the Morning. Ugaadi Puraskarams were given to eminent personalities. The priests chanted and explain the year round up of various astrology signs through Panchanga Sravanam.
If Gladiator was an Oscar Winner, there one more person we can be proud of Andhra. The Oscar Winner Gladiator which gave a picture of the Ancient Roman Empire carried some of the beautiful carving being drawn and sketched by 400 workers in Timmapuram of Andhra Pradesh. Tarakesam, a worker aged 20 from Hyderabad was the person behind building of 2 life size Lions sculpturings, a house setting which was built in Hyderabad.
The Sultan Bazar Police have arrested a culprit from Bombay who tried to sell a lorry which he stealed. However, the culprit committed later in the night he sucided by hanging himself in the lockup.
The new AICC Media Spokesman Sri Subba Rami Reddy was felicitated by Congress members in the state at a function in Visakhapatnam. Speaking at the program, Sri Subba Rami Reddy said that he will work for the party keeping aside his own work. He said that he will work for strengthening of the Congress in the Coastal Andhra.
An APSRTC Bus was looted by 3 decoits early this morning in Karimanar District. The decoits also tried to loot the next RTC bus but the passengers acted against them and informed the local police who fired two rounds at them however, the decoits escaped. The Jagityala Police were investigating the case.
2 Petrol Bunks near Mangalargiri were also looted. Some unknown decoits in Military unifrom robbed the petrol bunks and took away Rs. 25,000 cash.
CLP Sri Rajasekhar Reddy said that he has written to the Prime Minister in regard to the Power projects in the state asking him to put an enquiry with a sitting judge of the Supreme Court.
A 500 MW unit of the NTPC at Ramagundam broke down in the early hours of the morning. The power generation from the unit has come to a stand still effecting the availability of power to the state. AP Transco has immediately increased the generation at the Nagarjunsagar and Srisailam Hydel stations.
A Former Sarpanch and a TDP Member Mr. Maram Raji Reddy was killed by Naxals in Chityal mandal of Warangal District.
