Government of Andhra Pradesh decided to slightly slash the prices of Power in the state. The new tariff rates that comes into effect from April 1 has fewer changes. Units between 0 - 50 will be 135 paise per unit, between 51 - 100 will be 260 paise, between 101 - 200 will be 285 paise, between 201 - 300 will be 450 paise, between 310 - 400 will be 500 paise and above 400 will be 575 paise.
Members of the Congress, including Senior leaders AICC Spokesman Sri Jaipal Reddy, Mrs. Ambica Soni, M. Satyanarayana, V Hanumantha Rao. Sarojini Pulla Reddy, M Janardhan, Sudhakar and others went on an rally in Hyderabad in regard to the Tehelka case demanding the BJP led Center Government to step down.
Congress MLA M V Maisoora Reddy asked what steps is the Government taking to eradicate corruption at the proceedings in Vana Samrakshana Samithis. Minister for Forests Sri Ayyannapatrudu agreed that there were reports that such things were happening and that he will instruct his staff to make sure that such things will not happen.
Congress and MIM Members asked why there was no developments in the Sakhi Tigress case even though it was since 5 months. CLP Leader Sri YS Rajasekhar Reddy asked for setting up a housing committee since there was a talk in the public that the tigress was killed for its blood for a religious ritual.
Home Minister Sri Devendar Goud made an announcement in regard to the recent attack by some group at a Christian Meet at Chevella area of Ranga Reddy. He said that all the accused except one person were arrested. All the parties expressed their willingness to support to the Government to make sure that the Communal Hamony in the public is maintained.
Governor Sri Rangarajan inaugurated the Red Cross Annual Meeting at Hyderabad. He congratulated the members of Red Cross of Andhra Pradesh for their help during the Gujarat Earthquake. Gold & Silver Medals to the best performers in various districts in the state were presented.
2 Naxals were killed in an Encounter between the Naxals and the Special Party Police at Koderu area of Mahaboobnagar.
Minister for Secondary Education Sri Karnam Ramachandra Rao said that all efforts have been taken for the smooth conduction of Intermediate exams. This years Examination for Intermediate will not have a September exam. Minister said that an Advanced Supplement Exams will be held in May itself instead.
The Convenor of EAMCET, in a press release said that they have received 1,84,283 Applications for appearing for EAMCET 2001 Examination. Out of these, as many as 1,43,513 were for Engineering and 40,770 were for Medical courses.
The total number of students who were Debared off the SSC Examinations on Saturda's examinations is 156.
The Secretary of Board of Intermediate said that Halltickets for Inter examinations will be given at their respective centers on Sunday and Monday ( 25, 26th Mar 2001) even though the days falls on holidays.
