Official sources said that mild tremours have been observered at various parts of the Visakhapatnam on the night of 15th Mar 2001 at about 8:00PM including at MVP Colony. When contacted the Police Control room in regard to this, the People warned the people to stay calm and carefull as another bigger one may come out. No casualities or distruction was yet reported. The scale of earthquake was also not known yet.
Congress and Left parties asks Government to withdraw support at the Center's NDA Government. Congress Members goes near the Speakers Podium asking for giving more time to their leader Sri Rajasekhar Reddy to speak for a couple of minutes on the topic. The Speaker categorically denied saying not to go indepth into the subject. Proceedings came to a stand still for some time. Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sri Y. Ramakrishnudu said that there should be no talks in regard to the TDP supporting NDA Government issue at the Assembly.
Congress Member Sri Raghuveera Reddy re-questioned the Governmnet why the Cycle symobl appeared on 10th Class question papers. Replying to the Question, State Minister for Education Sri K Srihari said that the Government never ordered the proof readers nor the printers to print the TDP Party symbol in question papers and said that this has happened unintentionally and that care will be taken to make sure that the mistake never repeats.
Discussions on Liquor also came to the Assembly. Members of the CLP said that Government has been paying more money during purchasing from some Liquor manufacturers. They said that about Rs. 200 Crores in the last 5 years. Minister Sri T Nageswara Rao said that all deals by the Government are clean and clear cut and that the prices are fair when compared with neighboring states. CLP Leader Sri Rajasekhar Reddy asked for a proper Investigation has to be made by the CBI in regard to various scans in the state. He said that investigation by Vigilance Commissioner will be of no use since it is a major scan. He later said that the Government seems to be afraid of CBI and asked for an enquiry atleast by a sitting Supreme Court Judge.
CPM said that the Akshara Sankranthi program was not conducted in the right manner during the 304 Discussion session at the Assembly.
BJLP Leader Sri Indra Sena Reddy said that the Center Government and the BJP is ready for any investigation.
Government decided to completely pay a one time settlement for Primary weaver associations by month end and come to the rescue of the Weavers in the state. Cheif Minister held a meeting with various ministers in this regard.
Sri T D Prasada Rao, Director - Public Exams Division said that about 4032 Exam centers and 42,000 invisilators were set up for this years SSC Examinations. He said instructions were sent in this regard to Police, Medical and Revenue Departments. He said that Advanced supplement exams will be held from May 25 and monitoring of the Examinations will held and discussed with daily during the Exams period with the help of Video conference.
4 people were seriously injured in Ramakrishnapuram area of Adilabad in an explosion while they were drilling mines.
CPI Members held a rally today in Tirupati in regard to Defence Deals by the BJP led Government. Rail Rokho in Vijayawada.
Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Festival began at Kadili. Thousands of devotees are expected to take the darshan of the Lord during the festival period.
Visakhapatnam District Collector Sri JSV Prasad said that work for the Indira Priyadarshini Stadium was almost complete for the upcoming One Day Cricket Match between the Indian and Australian Teams.
Congress MLA's stood near the entrance of the Assembly holding placards urging the TDP to withdraw its support from the NDA Government at the Center.
