The Assembly proceeding began at the Legislature today. Congress members asked the Government to give a statement on the recent killing of Congress activists in Guntur district. Speaker rejects postponement of the proceeding and asked the Home Minister to reply. Congress, CPM and MIM members staged a walkout not being satisfied with the response of the Government.
Government decides to award him with Rs. 25 Lakhs cash incentive along with a house site anywhere in Andhra Pradesh to P Gopi Chand for his recent win in the All England Badminton Championship.
Meanwhile, the Opposition parties said that the Government has failed in execution of various ideas that it has in regard to the Sports. MIM leaders said the Government has to create infrastructure in the state. He highlighted that both Karnam Malleswari & Gopi Chand have got their training outside the state. Chief Minister later promised to discuss of installing a Badminton Academy in the state after consultation with Gopi Chand.
The Legislature has approved the bill to link Judicial system and Jails with Video Conference system. How every Home Minister defended that Video Conference said that it is an additional facility. The Left parties however, suggested the topic to send it to the Select committee for their approval.
State Minister for Health, Mrs. S Aruna said that 58 NGO's in the state have been chosen to spread the awareness of AIDS in the state. She said all District Headquarters will soon be provided with Free AIDS testing facility.
The Private College's Association - The AP Rastra United Junior College Management's Association asked the Government to scrap EAMCET since it was leading to unhealthy competition among the student community.
Farmers at Nellore blocks the District Collector office protesting aganist the Governments policy and requesting for a fair price for their produce.
70 people went ill when they consumed food which was poisoned in Khammam. Three people were in critical situation. All of them have been hospitalised and are being treated.
Police and Naxals fired against each other in an encounter in Kadam area of Nizamabad district. No one is reported to be injured.
An Engineering graduate committed suicide unable to fetch a suitable job. He committed suicide by hanging to the roof of his house at Kurnool.
