LIC Introduces Voice Response System

MD of Life Insurance Corporation Sri A Ram Murthy inaugurated the Interactive Voice Response System in Vijayawada. This system will allow policy holders to get their policy information, premium and other information. He said that this type of system will be introduced in all major branches in the country.

Hyderabad to be a major Shopping center in the country - says CM

Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Sri Chandrababu Naidu said that the Government of Andhra Pradesh will give equal preference to the Tourism Sector on par with Information Technology. He said that the Government will be providing with discounts to any companies who wish to setup shopping malls in Hyderabad on par with International standards. An MoU was signed between Dubai Government and the Andhra Pradesh counterpart recently. Speaking at a meeting at Jubliee hall, CM said that the Government will come out with a strategy on this and that support will be extended to the Great Mall of Hyderabad and the Royal Hyderabad Shoppee. He said that Hyderabad will be developed to be on par with Dubai, Malaysia and Singapore. He said that Hyderabad has already reached international levels in areas including Education and Information Technology and that Tourism is the next area to work on.

State Election Commissioner holds meeting with District Collectors

State Election Commissioner Sri K Madhava Rao held a meet with various District Collectors in the state to discuss on the progress of works for the upcoming regional elections. He said that NCC Cadets can be used if required for security and other arrangements since that are young, energetic and impartial. He request the collectors to see that the Elections are conducted fairly. He suggested the Collectors to deploy additional staff from neighboring districts if required in areas such as Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam and Khammam districts.

Congress to join hands with Left Parties in local elections

Pradesh Congress Party President Sri M Satyanarayana Rao said that CM's comments that he never asked for a public talk on the Telangana issue is bad and that this decision was taken by the CM after it became clear that this issue will have an impact on the local elections. He also announced that the State Congress came into an understanding with CPM for the upcoming local elections. He said that the Congress Party campaign will begin with Sri YS Rajasekhar Reddy from Medak starting from first week of July.

Free Power supply in state possible - says Rosayya

State Congress Spokesman Sri Rosayya said that the Government is wasting lot of money saying dreaming of Swarnandrapradesh. He said that if these funds were effectively utilised, it would have been possible to introduce free Power in the state. He brought to notice that the Congress came out with a clear and correct plan on how to get the funds for free power and that it was not just a plan.

University Staff strike postponed

The proposed strike by the University Teaching and Non-teaching Union to be observed tomorrow was postponed. The Union members has held talks with the Chief Minister and Minister Sri Rama Chandra Rao today on their demands. The Government promised to bring to the Centers notice to see that the UGC Salary Scales were implemented.

Secretary, CPI(M) State Committee Sri B V Raghavulu was in Visakhapatnam. He said that CPI will not join hands with the Congress in the upcoming ZPTC Elections. He suggested the Chief Minister to stop introducing new polities during the election time. He also said that CM has changed words denying that he has never called for a public discussion on the Telangana issue.
AISF demanded for the immediate suspension of Kurnool SP Seetaramanjaneyulu for his act aginst the student community during their Dharna in Kurnool a few days ago. Members of AISF staged a Dharna at Old MLA Quarters in Hyderabad today.
