Mr. Erra Satyanarayana, who was president of Telugu Vidyarthi, has resigned from the party. In his resignation letter to Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, which was released at a press conference, Mr. Satyanarayana said that all the political parties were favourably inclined to the demand for separate Telangana State. Mr. Satyanarayana said that he would join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and fight for the cause of Telengana.
Eminent eye surgeons from different parts of the country were felicitated at the valedictory function of the two-day clinical ophthalmology update-2001 organised by Apollo Eye Hospital. The two-day update, which is part of the continuing medical education programme of Apollo, discussed new treatment modalities for diabetic retinopathy and various other treatements. The APCC president, Mr. M. Satyannarayana Rao, presented a memorandum containing over 30 lakh signatures on Tehelka episode to the CWC member, Mr. Mukul Wasnik. Signatures on the memorandum seeking dismissal of NDA Government by the president were collected by the congress activists. A similar memorandum was also presented to Mr. Wasnik by the AP Youth Congress president, Mr. P.Sudhakar Reddy.
About Six unknown offenders robbed Passengers of an RTC bus of cash and ornaments worth Rs. 40,000 at Chintapalem in Kaluvoy mandal in Nellore.
The State BJP demands the Government to complete the pending Elampalli lift irrigation project immediately. In a Press meet at Visakhapatnam, the State BJP leader Mr. Ch Vidyasagar Rao said that if Government completes the Elampalli lift irrigation project then 53 tmc water of Godavari river can be utilised instead of releasing them into the sea.
The PWG Naxals have attacked a Police Station in Prakasam district. Firings between them lasted for 3 hours. 8 Constables and 2 naxals were injured in the incident.
