Govt. ready for talks with Naxals

Home Minister Sri Devendar Goud said that the Government is keen to have talks with various Naxal groups in the state. He said that the problem of terrorism can be also be solved with talks and not necessarily using police force.

High Court directs for MCH elections within 90 days

The State High Court directed the Andhra Pradesh Government to conduct the elections of Hyderabad and Vijayawada Municipal Corporations within 90 days. It has been 10 years since the last elections for the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad were held. The High Court bench rejected the Government of Andhra Pradesh's plea to allow it to conduct the elections before Febuary 2002.

Savithramma to be in CID custody

The Hyderabad 9th Metropolitan Magistrate Court ordered the CID Police to take Ms. Savithramma - the prime accused in Child Adoption case into their custody for 7 days. The Court also ordered CID not to use any 3rd Degree methods and do its investigation.

CM congratulates Rajendar Singh

Chief Minister Sri Chandrababu Naidu congratulated Mr. Rajendar Singh - the recent Roman Magasasay Award winner. He thanked Mr. Singh for his contributions and suggestions to various Water Management programmes being organised by the state Government.

Gowtami Express delayed

The Gowtami Express which runs between Secunderabad to Kakinada stopped for over 2 hours at Vijayawada due to failure of vacuum pump at about 1:30 AM ( early morning ).

Record Production at VSP

The Blast Furnace at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has set a new record. The Godavari and Krishna Blast furnaces has made a record level production on Monday at 11,195 Metric tonnes.

Minister Sri Vidhyadhara Rao said that the State Government is totally committed to provide peace and security to the people of the state and to provide this, it is working to provide the best and Advanced training system to the Police. He took honor at a parade held at Himayat Sagar at the conclusion of SI, ASI's training programme. Medals and Shields were awarded to outstanding personnel.

4 persons including a women died in a road accident when a Lorry hit a Maruti van near Balaranagar of Mahaboobnagar district.

Home Minister Sri Devendar Goud said that the Government is taking steps to impart homely atmosphere in Jails in the state. He took the honor at the conclusion of Jail Wardens training programme.

State Election Commission asked the Government to stop new Appointments, Promotions or Transfer of staff in the state till the Panchayat Elections were completed.

The Ballot papers for the Panchayat Election have been modified for this time. This years Ballot paper will not carry the names of the contesting candidates but will have symbols of the members. Even the symbols will be selected by the returning officers.

Congress leader meet to discuss on its loss in Guntur

Congress Members met in Guntur today to discuss the various reasons for the defeat of 8 of its members in the recent ZPTC elections in which the members lost by less than 500 votes. Mr. Rayapati Srinuvas commented that the TDP has done many misappropriation during the elections.

Teachers of Primary and Secondary Schools meet today and discussed on various problems being faced by them. The meet was held in Kurnool.

Vizag Mayor to participate in International Mayors Conference

Mayor Mrs. Rajana Ramani to take part in International Mayors Conference to be held in Nagasaki, Japan between 7 - 9 August 2001. Mrs. Ramani is the first Mayor to take part in this International Conference from Andhra Pradesh.

Members of the Telangana Rastra Samithi staged a Dharna before the District Collector office of Kurnool district against illegal arrest of a TRS Member.

8 Kashmiri youth who are believed to have links with the terrorist group Hijabul Mujahid were arrested in Hyderabad by the City police. The youth are aged between 17 and 26. Interrogation is still on.

One person died while 4 were seriously injured in an accident at Singareni Collaries KK-5A Coal mines.
