Dr. C Rangarajan sworn in as Governor of TN
Noted Economist, former head of RBI and Andhra Pradesh Governor Dr. C Rangarajan was sworn in as the new Tamilnadu Governor this morning. Tamil Nadu Ms J Jayalalitha was also present at the sworning function.

All Depts. in the state to get computerised
Chief Minister Sri Chandrababu Naidu said that all Government Departments in the state should be completely Computerised by Feb 2002. He also said the necessary orders for the Departments have already been sent. A meeting to this effect was held at the Secretariat at Hyderabad and discussed about solving the problem of pending files at various departments. He said that email accounts should be provided to the Depts. and Portal for Government - Public interaction will be inaugurated in the next month.

15 Lakh students in the state to get literated with Azim Premji Foundation aid
Azim Premji Foundation exchanged an MoU with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to provide Primary schooling and Education facilities till July 2002 to over 15 Lakh illiterate students in the school. Speaking at the meet, CEO of Azim Premji Foundation said that Nalgonda was chosen as the first center and that about 500 villages will be provided with Primary Education. CM Sri Chandrababu Naidu was present at the meet.

2-day exhibition on Defence Parts begins
A 2 day exhibition on Defence Parts was inaugurated today at Hyderabad. The exhibition was organised by the Andhra Pradesh State Government and Confederation of Indian Industry. Mr B V Rao said that the Government will help in making India self depend on itself for manufacturing of defence parts.

Congress releases its promotional material
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee released their posters and other promotional material to be used during the upcoming elections. APCC President Sri M Satyanarayana Reddy and CLP Leader Sri YS Rajasekhar Reddy were present at the release function. The Congress also released a promotional video. Sri YSR asked the CM to come for a public discussion on various aspects including topics such as Free Power to the farmer community, minimal prices for the farmers in the state besides other aspects. The promotional video contained 30 minutes on TDP rule in the state and about 15 minutes on BJP rule in the country.

MS not to support TRS
The Mahasangarshana Samitha said that they will not support Sri Chandrasekhar Rao led Telangana Rastra Samithi. This was stated by Mr. Manda Krishna Madiga who has held a meeting with the Mahasangarshana Samitha members in Hyderabad today.

CBI Office in Vijayawada
A CBI Office was inaugurated in Vijayawada. Incidently, the new CBI office is only the 3rd in the state besides Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad. SP of CBI Visakha Branch Sri Sudhakara Rao inaugurated the unit today.

Vizag Dock gets Naval Trophey
Visakhapatnam Dock Yard won the Chief Naval Staff Trophy for its best utilisation of Human resources during the year 1999-2000. Chief of Eastern Naval Command Vice Admiral John C Disilva congratulated the staff for achieving this.
