Rs. 140 Crores for drough hit areas
Chief Minster said that the Government has released Rs. 140 Crores towards the drough situation in many districts in the state. He said that the amount will be spent for providing Water, fodder and food grains in drought hit areas. He said that 52,000 tonnes of Rice brought to the state will be distributed to White and Green card holders at Rs. 6.40. CM said that he will be conducting an all party meeting on 29th July to discuss on this issue and take appropriate steps. CM of Andhra Pradesh is in talks with Chief Minister of Karnataka and Secretary of Irrigation to bring Krishna water to the state.
Ms. Savitramma surrenders before court
Ms. Savitramma, one of the involved in the recent selling of children's case surrendered before the 9th Metropolitan Court today with the help of her Advocate. The court ordered her to be in August 1st.She said that she is 'mentally sick and that she was with children for the last 9 years and that she is innocent'. Mr. Vasundhara Rao of CB-CID said that she police have worked at its level best to nab her along with the Karnataka Police.
Senior Congress Sri Raghuveera Reddy said that the TDP led Government is in 'deep sleep' and was not active in attending to the severe drought problems in 17 districts in the state. He demanded that the Legislature should immediately meet to discuss on the issue.
CPI(M) Secretary Sri Raghavulu released the topic that the party discussed in its 2-day meet. He said that members of the party will be visiting various drought hit areas in the state and force the Government to take steps accordingly.
People for Economical and Effective Medicare commented that the Government is working to privitise the basic Water supply programme and that it is in talks with a Delhi based company. Minister for Municipal Affairs said that the Government has no plans on this issue as of now.
The Congress has called for a 'Rangareddy district Bandh' on 27th of this month. According to the APCC Spokesman, Mr. K. Keshav Rao, the bandh is aimed at 'expressing people's ire against the intimidation of ZPTC candidates and sabotage of democracy by the ruling Telugu Desam Party.
