TDP manages to win in majority Zilla Parishad Chairman Elections
Zilla Parishad Chairman Elections in many District headquarters were completed today. TDP won in 11 districts, Congress in 7 while TRS won in 1 district ( Nizamabad). The elections in 19 districts were postponed. Congress won in Vizianagaram where lottery system was used since Congress and TDP got equal number of seats.
Telugu Desam Party Mr. Uma Reddy Venkateswarulu commented that Congress and TRS who said that they were rivals have joined hands overnight to defeat congress. PCC President Sri Chandrasekhar Rao said that not all work of the Congress is over and that they are aiming at the upcoming elections at the remaining districts.
State Election Commission K Madhavarao said that they were considering to stop inviting MP's and Ministers to meetings with the Commission for Zilla Parishad and Mandal Parishad members take part.
Government of Andhra Pradesh said that it will not be possible to conduct elections for Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad till next February. The Govt. has filed a counter in response to a writ petition by a Congress Member. The High Court questioned why the Government was not able to conduct the elections for over 15 years.
Karimnagar police arrested 2 ex-Naxals on charges of kidnapping some members. These 2 ex-Naxals were working for the police but have managed to win MPTC elections, one of whom won on TDP ticket.
Excise Enforcement authorities seized 7 barrels of Chlorohydride at Kamareddy in Nizamabad district. 6 persons were arrested. The total quantity seized is worth Rs. 30 Lakhs
The Spot Valuation for Intermediate Advanced Supplementary Examinations was completed. The results were expected to be released by 27th of this month.
