Local Elections begins
Local Elections in 11 districts in the state began peacefully in the state. The elections are on their way in Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, West Godavari, Guntur, Nellore, Chitoor, Mahaboobnagar, Rangareddy, Nizamabad, Warangal, Khammam districts.
About 60% of the voters casted their vote today in the 509 ZPTC and 6821 MPTC Centers. The Voting began slow in morning and gained speed when more and more voters started to cast their votes. Good number of women also casted their votes. By 9 AM voters were seen standing in queues. However, some voters found that their votes have already been polled. Voter-Id card was not necessary. Police and Security forces made sure that there was no lapse of security in the area. Verification of vehicles that traveled from near the polling booth were done at many centers. TDP and Congress members clashed each other in a constituency in Guntur. Police restricted them with Lathi charge.
Senior Congress Leader Mr. V Hanumanta Rao asked the Voters to restrict Telugu Desam party during the Local elections. He said that unemployment increased during the TDP tenure. He said that TDP-led government showed no interest in completing pending projects. He said that when the Telangana issue was there for many years and questioned why Telangana Rastra Samithi's Chandrasekhar Rao came out with this issue at this time.
