Chief Minister Sri Chandrababu Naidu along with his team of Ministers released a Strategy Paper on Irrigation projects in the state. The State will be allocation Rs. 45 Lakh Crores towards Irrigation projects in the state. Earlier, the State Cabinet head by Chief Minister has met. The cabinet is said to have discussed on issues related to Agriculture, Water Supply, providing of basic infrastructure for Industries and to take a decision on the center 's stand on the pending projects to the state.

State BJP requested the Government to speak out a word and release a White paper even at a month delay. They asked the Government to make public the various amounts being received towards various projects being signed by the Government in the recently concluded CII Summit.

AITUC State committee said that the Government is not taking immediate steps in regard to the various pending posts in various departments. Sri P Nageswar Rao, Secretary of AITUC, said that they will be taking an action plan

Chief Minister said that the Government will be going for computerisation of 1000 schools in the state by the next financial year. He inaugurated a Multi-Dementional Computer facility at the Little Flower High School in Hyderabad. He said that the Computers and IT are the Education of the New Millenium and told the Governement is looking towards obtaining 100% literacy in the state in 5 years time.

Congress Leader Sri Rajasekhar Reddy said that the Governmetn has been spending lots of amount on advertising on Janmabahoomi and other programs though they have been allocated no money in the budget.

Senior Congress leader Sri Rosayya said that the Government has completely ignored the Handloom industry. He said that the industries turn over has fallen from 128 Crores to 15 crores. Speaking at a press conferance at Visakhapatnam, he said that the Center has also less intrest in coming to the rescure to this Small scale industry.

The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant was awarded ISO 9001 for its Quality from its earlier ISP 9002:1994. This was a rare International level accreditation awarded and is one of its kind in the country.

Dates for various Entrance Examination in the state were announced :

  • EAMCET 2001 will be held on May 20 and will be conducted by JNTUC
  • Combined Entrance test for MBA & MCA will be held on May 25 and will be conducted by Osmania University
  • ECET will be conducted on June 1 and will be conducted by Osmania University
  • LAWCET ( 3 Years & 5 Years ) will be on June 3, 4 and will be conducted by Nagarjuna University
  • EdCET will be on June 17 and will be conducted by Kakatiya University
