Hamsa Awards for 2001 announced

2-day National level seminar begins in Hyderabad
The Andhra Pradesh Government announced its Electronic Hardware Policy today at the 2-day National level seminar that began today at Hyderabad. Speaking at the meet, Chief Minister Sri Chandrababu Naidu said that the State Government is keen in development of Information Technology and this was clear from the developments in the software sector in the state and that it is time to concentrate on Hardware and PC Manufacturing technologies. He said that the Government will shortly introduce Hardware Infrastructure Fund and bring about Open Sky Policy for this industry. He said that places for the 1st Phase of the Hardware Technology Park were already identified and that Special Incentives for Internet connectivity, Electricity and Telecommunications will be provided. He said that Hardware Infrastructure Development Fund will be setup. Mr. Kohli of TCS spoke at the meet and felt that Digital Engineering, Embedded Systems are ruling the day. CM will be inaugurating E-Seva Programme tomorrow.

DSC-2001 Exams notification released
Minister Sri Kadiyam Srihari announced that DSC-2001 examinations to be held shortly. He said that this years exams will be held in a very strict matter and that jumbling system was followed. Jumbling will be done for hall tickets so that no two applications sent to the office will be allocated the same center. He also said that the sequence of questions for each set will be different and that the questions along with the correct answers will be published on the Internet and in leading news papers.

Rs. 200 Crores for Andhra Pradesh for tourism
Union Minister for Tourism, Sri Ananth Kumar visited Hyderabad today. He said that he was happy that the Andhra Pradesh Government has come forward to hold an Exhibition at Salarjung Museum in Delhi shortly. He met the Chief Minister and said that the Union Government will be allocating Rs. 200 Crores for Andhra Pradesh for the development of tourism. Chief Minister felt that the state is nicely located and is a good place for development of Eco-Tourism and Heritage Tourism and comes third in national level only after Goa and Kerala.

DCC Presidents list ready - says MSR
APCC President Sri M Satyanarayana Reddy said that the list of DCC Presidents for various districts in the state was confirmed except for few districts. He said that the Congress members of the Krishna and Medak districts were requested to send in their desired candidates for DCC President.

State BJP Spokesman Mr. Parikala Prabhakar criticised that the Government has not used the funds and the rice being sent by the center to the state to be used under the "Food for Work" scheme.

Indo-Australian Chamber of Commerce office was inaugurated today in Hyderabad. Director of Satyam Computers Mr. Rama Raju spoke at the meet.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court rejected the appeal raised by Mohan Babu in regard to the case against the Hertiage Foods in which Chief Minister Sri Chandrababu Naidu was involved. The case was filed for Company Winding.

The Talpagiri Ranganatha Alayam Samprokshana was held today at Nellore. Special Pooja was offered to Lord Ranganath and Saharakalahasanam was held.

DIG RP Thakur, Anatapuram Range DIG said that Tirupati Range Police Squad has arrested 3 people gang who were involved in Inter-city dacoity of jewelry from women in areas including Chitoor, Guntur and East and West Godavari.

The Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Mr. N N Jhu visited the Eastern Naval Command at Visakhapatnam.

One person died on the spot while 4 more were injured when firework material accidentally took off at Nellore.
