Hamsa Awards for 2001 announced

The AP State Cultural Council announced the names of persons selected for the Hamsa Awards for the year 2001. Speaking to the presspersons, Chairman of the council Mr. C Narayanareddy said that the following has been selected for the award.

Utpala Satyanarayanacharya - for Literature
Vidwan Annavarapu Ramaswamy - for Music
Meddali Usha Gayatri - for Dance
Prof. Aekka Yadagiri Rao - for Sculpture
AC Chandrasekhar - for Folk Arts

The Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Nagendranath held discussions with Rear Admiral RM Bhatia, Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Shipyard Limited.

Home Minister Mr. Devendar Goud has asked the police officials to deal firmly and impartially with all the cases relating to attacks on weaker sections and minorities in the recent elections held to the local bodies.
