Chief Minister Sri Chandrababu Naidu met Deputy Speaker of Rajya Sabha Ms. Najma Heptulla in the morning. He discussed on Information Technology, election of President and Vice-President and other matters. He later met with the Members of the Planning Commission and discussed on various Development plans being undertaken by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He later met with the Telugu Desam Party MP's and discussed on the 8 pending projects in the state. He later met the Home Minister Sri L K Advani who agreed to modernise the Police Department at a cost of Rs. 72 Crores. The Home Minister however rejected to cancel all the old pending loans of the state that were to be paid to the center. He also met the Petroleum Minister Sri Rajnath Singh on pending projects and later with Agriculture Minister about funds to Masulipathanm and Bhavanipatnam Shipping Harbors. He also met with the Chief Election Commissioner, Minister for Surface Transport, the NDA Convenor Sri George Fernandez and with the Lok Sabha Speaker.
The State High Court issued a stay order for 3 weeks on the counting of votes of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Mayor elections.
Naxals kills a women
Naxals of the Peoples War Group killed a women aged 40 years, believing her to be a Police Informer, in Chandurthi area of Karimnagar. They killed the women, removed her head and put it near the legs of Mrs. Indira Gandhi statue.
Mr. PV Rao removed from duty
Chief Convenor of MalaMahanadu, Mr. P V Rao was removed from his duty. Ms. Rao is working in a Government Job as the Chief Editor of Andhra Pradesh Magazine. Reports says he was removed from dity for his Anti-Governmental statements.
CEC to come to Hyderabad
Chief Election Commissioner Mr. Lingdo will be arriving to Hyderabad to take part in a meet at the Administrative Staff College on August 16,2001.
Prisoner tries to comitt suicide
A Prisoner at the Visakhapatnam Central Jail tried to kill himself by hanging. The Police immediately stopped him and he was rushed to the King George Hospital.
