The Joint Action Committee decided to stop its dharna programme after the Government decided to accept 20 of their 34 demands. Members of the JAC met the Chief Minister and discussed of their various demands of which the major ones are fulfilled. The Government also decided not to remove any of the existing jobs of the employees.
A Ministerial meeting was held in Hyderabad to discuss the developments in the recent child adoption cases. The meet decided to abolish all Child Homes to take children from outsiders. The meeting also decided to setup a 6 year board to monitor activities of all child homes in the state. The major points discussed includes
  • Effective Utilisation of funds from the World Bank Health Project
  • Restructuring of Andhra Pradesh Yoga Parishad
  • VRS option for employees of Nandyal Spinning Mill
  • Discount on taxes for all IT companies in the state for registrations
  • Dental College permission to Medical Colleges in the state who have opted for it and to make utilisation of their existing infrastructure for the college
An All-Party meet was held to discuss about the BC Reservation system for the upcoming elections. Opposition party members also took part and expressed their unhappiness with the Governments strategy in pending the issue
The State Cabinet approved a Draft Ordinance to amend the AP Tax on Luxuries Act to discourage consumption of Gutka.
The Executive Director of Action for Social Development, Mr. N Sanjeeva Rao was arrested by Musheerabad Police in the Child Adoption racket case in Hyderabad.
The West Godavari police arrested 6 people in connection with a fake currency note racket in Eluru. According to official sources, these 6 people carried their operations in a secret hide out and about Rs. 1.5 Lakhs of fake currency was recovered from them.
The Ralayaseema Express was detained for about an hour and a half between Vontimitta and Bhakrapet Railway stations due to problem with the track. The train is bound to Tirupati from Hyderabad.
A Cybercafe in Vizag was raided and 16 people were arrested for watching pornographic images. About 13 systems were sealed and those who were arrested includes the owner of the Cybercafe.
