Members of Employee, Workers and Teachers Associations of Joint Action Committee organised a Mass Dharna in Hyderabad. The Members of the NGO's association and other Employee and teachers groups also participated in the program. They demanded simplification of Medical Insurance Scheme and other 33 demands. Many of these members went on Mass leave leaving Government offices with no people to work in many parts of the state.
A Dharna was also organised in Tirupati at the RDO Office against Government's reforms for privitisation by CITU.
AITUC members organised a Dharna at the Kurnool Government Office and at the Sub-Collector offices in Vijayawada, Rajahmundry and Kurnool.
A Special Security Force Inspector and 3 Contestable was killed a landmine blasted in a coombing operation in East Godavari district.
Eucalyptus plantation program was organised by ITDA in Badrachalam. Experts in the field suggest that farmers can book good profits with plantations of Eucalyptus and Chilly crop.
Minister Sri K Ramachandra Rao inaugurated a meeting of Affiliated Colleges Managements at Andhra Univeristy. He asked the Privite colleges not to commercialise education. He also said that Intermediate results will be released on date as released before.
South Central Railways announced that it will be launching more trains in the state this year. The list of new trains to be introduced includes train between Secunderabad - Goa, Puttaparthi - Tirupathi - Guntur and others. Officals at the SCR also said that a third bridge will also be constructed across the River Krishna.
Government Officials announced that the proposed 15th Phase of Janmabhoomi program was postponed to June 1 to 10 instead of the earlier date of May 1 to 10.
A Private gunman of Mr. M V Ramana Reddy, brother of the CLP Secretary, Dr M V Maysoora Reddy was shot dead by his rivals while he was watching a movie in Yerranguntla town of Cuddapah.
22 Naxals surrendered before the DGP Sri H J Dora in Hyderabad at his office. As many as 11 of these Naxals are from Adilabad district which is the hot bed for Naxal activities in the state.
