Spot Valuation of Intermediate Examination began today. The final results of the exams will be released by the end of this month. About 9.6 Lakh students in the state wrote their Intermediate Examinations this year.
Union Minister Sri Raj Gopal inaugurated a Guest Room for Handicapped and Senior Citizens at the Secunderabad Railway station. He said that the Union Government will keep the promises of Ms. Mamata Benerjee and that they will develop the Railways to offer better services. He said that about Rs. 1000 Crores was allocated in the Budget for the development of Railways in the country while it started execution of projects worth more than Rs. 3000 crores. Union Minister Sri Dattatreya also took part in the program and said that the proposed Multimodel Railway system in a years time.
Deputy Speaker of Legislature of Andhra Pradesh and TDP Member Mr. Chandra Sekhar Rao decided to quit from the Telugu Desam Party and start a new party for the interest of the Telangana People. He said that the TDP Party is more interested in only Andhra Pradesh rather than on the Telangana area and that not even a major project was completed during the TDP tenure in the Telangana area. He also said that it is clear that all major posts in the TDP Led Government - including the TDP Party President, vice-president, Spokesman, Speaker, TDP Parliament Party president, the Revenue Minister, the Finance Minister are all held by the Andhra people and the Telangana people have not been shown much interest. However, TDP Spokesman Mr. Ravula Chandrasekhar Rao defended that the state Government has not done differentiated Telangana area with the Andhra area and that the Government has announced a Special package for backward districts including Warangal, Medak, Kurnool and other districts.
CLP Leader Sri Rajasekhar Reddy said that TDP led Government has to remove one of its member and Minister for Commercial Taxes Mrs. Lakshmi Padmavathi to be dropped from the cabinet or she herself have to drop down. He said that why the Telugu Desam Party was not doing this when the party says that it is transparent and clear.
Heavy rains in Sullurupet of Nellore district have brought Road-side trees and electric poles down besides bringing the Groundnut crop in the district to a loss.
The Janasakthi Arm of the Peoples War Group Naxals blasted the Chelpur Village CDOT Telephone Exchange that was ready for Inauguration in Warangal District.
The Naxals of the CPI-ML ( Janashakti Ranadheer Group ) killed a villager at Himmathraopet of Karimnagar district. Meanwhile, the Anantapur Police caught an arms maker who used to supply arms to various Naxal groups.
The Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Prof. Y Venkatrami Reddy ruled our of postponement of EAMCET 2001 Examination and said that the exams will be conducted as per the previous scheduled date of May 27.
Chairman of Press Council of India, Mr. Justice PB Sawant said that the Press Council wants Control over Electronic media in the country. He spoke at a meet at Vizag Press Club in Visakhapatnam.
