The Sales Tax on various items including Plywood, AC Sheets, Paints, Electrical Tubes and bulbs, Watches and Clocks and Readymade Gardents have been increased. State Minister for Commercial Taxes Mrs J Padmavathi said that this increase was made to cover up the Rs. 853 lakh buoyancy that fell on the Government.

About 6000 Police were deployed in Hyderabad as preventive steps in view of Babri Masjib demolition day. Rowdy Sheaters and malicious people were put on observation.
