DETROIT, July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Greater Detroit Chapter has partnered with the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women (IEEW) to offer mentoring and housing for visiting women entrepreneurs from Afghanistan through the Peace through Business program.
Peace through Business is an educational and mentorship program for women business owners in emerging economies, created and sponsored by the IEEW.
"Afghanistan was chosen because it is one of the hardest hit countries for the development of women due to years of war and religious confinements," explained Lin Weigel, director of Program Development for IEEW in Oklahoma City.

"Afghanistan has experienced terrible hardships, but there is hope among the women in that country and we are pleased to be a part of their solution. This is a wonderful opportunity to engage in cultural exchange," said Amy Marshall, NAWBO Greater Detroit Executive Director.
NAWBO Greater Detroit is assisting with the mentoring phase and seeking volunteers to mentor and house the Afghan women. Mentors are asked to share their business experiences in an individualized environment. Volunteer hosts are asked to host two women at a time and provide private sleeping space.
