The luxury watchmaker announces the opening of seven boutiques
NEW YORK, July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Following the opening of boutiques in Florence, Portofino, Hong Kong, Shanghai and the renovation of the Los Angeles location, Panerai will open doors in Beijing, Tokyo, New York, Buenos Aires, Madrid, Qatar and Dubai in 2008 and 2009. Growing interest from prominent global markets coupled with the rapid growth of the Panerai brand has led the leading luxury watchmaker to expand its retail presence in major cities around the world.
Each boutique represents a true extension of the brand and offers the entire collection of both Panerai and Ferrari engineered by Officine Panerai timepieces, with particular attention paid to the Manifattura line.
Enthusiasts around the globe, from Asia to the United States, have transformed Panerai timepieces into objects with cult status. The brand was born in 1860 when Giovanni Panerai opened a watch boutique in Florence. Panerai came to national attention when the Royal Italian Navy asked the company to create precision wartime instruments in 1913. Over the next 80 years Panerai continued to produce groundbreaking timepieces such as the Radiomir and Luminor. Today the brand is considered a leader in technical innovation with a distinct aesthetic impact.
The furnishings in all Panerai boutiques are inspired by the sea, the element which has always accompanied Panerai's history. They were carefully designed by an Italian architecture studio to create a distinctively Panerai ambience. Teak and steel are the predominant materials used -- much like the materials used on a boat -- while shop windows take on the shape of ocean waves. Furnishing details that echo diving suits and divers' equipment and porthole-shaped display panels recalling yacht fittings all come together in harmony to create a look with a clean, linear nautical style.
