Madame Tussauds Washington D.C. to Lower Ticket Prices

Attraction cites rising cost of travel, other economic factors as key to decision

WASHINGTON, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Madame Tussauds Washington D.C. announced today that it will introduce a new value pricing structure that includes significant discounts for seniors and children ages 12 and under, as well as a special discount for residents of Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia.

The new ticket prices will go into effect on Thursday, May 1, and will now be $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and $12 for kids ages 12 and under; children under the age of three are free. Residents of Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia will receive an additional discount making their admission costs $13 for adults and seniors and $9 for kids ages 12 and under with proof of residency.

"Madame Tussauds has had an incredible reception in Washington D.C. More than 80% of visitors have said they would recommend a visit to Madame Tussauds to their family and friends," said Janine DiGioacchino, General Manager of Madame Tussauds New York and Washington D.C. "We want to make it even easier for those friends and family members to experience the exhibits, interactive experiences and amazingly lifelike wax figures at Madame Tussauds Washington D.C."

Tussauds cited the increasing cost of gas, food and other necessities as factors in the decision to change its pricing structure. The new fee structure reflects consumer opinion on what is considered an acceptable cost in today's economic climate in the Washington D.C. area.

Madame Tussauds Washington D.C., located prominently on the corner of 10th and F Streets, NW in the historic Woodies building, opened its doors in October of 2007. The attraction gives visitors an interactive, full-sensory experience where they can touch, see and hear major historical events and celebrities in a way unlike any other Washington D.C. attraction.

Madame Tussauds features dozens of lifelike wax figures from John and Jackie Kennedy to George Clooney and Beyonce. Recently, the attraction celebrated of the Pope XVI visit to D.C. by unveiling a wax figure of Pope Benedict and throwing him a birthday party in the attraction's Oval Office -- guests included wax figures of Barack Obama, Hillary and Bill Clinton and President George W. Bush. Prior to the Potomac Primary, Madame Tussauds Washington D.C. unveiled a convincing wax figure of Senator Barack Obama prominently placed behind the Oval Office desk in the attraction's precise replica of the President's quarters.
