VIASPACE Batteries Featured at Interbike Show

PASADENA, Calif., Sept. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- VIASPACE Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: VSPC), a company that commercializes proven space and defense technologies from JPL, NASA and the Department of Defense into hardware and software solutions, announced today that its Light Electric Vehicle (LEV) battery pack has been featured by 3rd Millennium Energy LLC of Orange, CA at the Interbike 2008 Show in Las Vegas from September 22-24, 2008. The pack is based on special cells produced by VIASPACE partner, Yoku of Hong Kong.

Britt Jackson, CEO of 3rd Millennium Energy stated, "The VIASPACE Lithium Polymer batteries are four times lighter, nearly three times smaller, charge much faster, and have greater cycle life than lead-acid batteries. We are very pleased with our in-house tests of the VIASPACE battery; they show that we can provide our eBike customers with a powerful boost while keeping the eBike light, good looking, and easy to handle."

At Interbike 2008, 3rd Millenium is featuring the VIASPACE eBike batteries on their advanced "Commuter Bike" which can be folded to be small enough to take on commuter trains and in cars. In this application, light weight and small size are critical. VIASPACE eBike batteries are also under test for use in both mountain and street eBikes at 3rd Millennium Energy and other customers.

Carl Kukkonen, CEO of VIASPACE, stated, "We believe that eBikes and other light electric vehicles will see rapid adoption. This is the first show featuring our new battery products in an application environment. VIASPACE is pleased that we have been selected for use by 3rd Millennium Energy in this rapidly growing market segment. We provide our customers with safe, high performance batteries at a strongly competitive price, as a complement to our other green energy products, including fuel cell technology and instrumentation. All of this is part of our expanded focus on a broadened range of clean, renewable energy solutions."

About VIASPACE: Founded in 1998 with the objective of transforming proven space and defense technologies from NASA and the Department of Defense into hardware and software solutions that solve today's complex problems, VIASPACE benefits from important patent and software licenses from Caltech, which manages NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
