Washington Area Hosts Afghanistan Athletes

MCLEAN, Va., July 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Afghan Sports Federation is holding its 11th annual 4th of July sporting and cultural events starting Thursday July 3rd thru Saturday July 5th in the Washington Metro Area.

The events include soccer matches, women's volleyball, men's volleyball, women's basketball, men's basketball, girls soccer, boys soccer, a concert by young Afghan artists as well as other cultural and community themed events.

Teams from the Afghan-American communities in New York, New Jersey, California, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, as well as Canada and individual players from Europe, Asia, Afghanistan and the rest of the World will join ASF for these games.

Where:

Maryland SoccerPlex at 14501 Schaeffer Rd, Boyds, MD (Germantown).

Time:

Press Briefing at 6:00 PM by ASF officials

Game Times:

Soccer Championship -- 5:30 PM

Basketball Championship for men -- 4:00 PM

Basketball Championship for women -- 4:30 PM

Volleyball Championship women -- 3:00 PM

Volleyball Championship men -- 2:30 PM

Youth soccer girls -- 4:00 PM

Youth soccer boys -- 4:30 PM

Trophy Presentations:

All sports trophies will be awarded at 8:30 PM
