BCI Aircraft Leasing, Inc. to Conduct Sale-Leaseback With China Airlines

Chicago-based BCI Aircraft Leasing, Inc. ("BCI") has signed a letter of intent for a sale and leaseback transaction with China Airlines.

CHICAGO, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The deal will include a 2006 Airbus A330-300 commercial aircraft which will be operated in passenger service on long-term lease by the Taiwan-based carrier.

"We are grateful for the opportunity to add Taiwan's leading airline to our list of respected, worldwide partners," said Alain Maestracci, BCI's Vice President, Business Development. "China Airlines is an important and growing carrier and we look forward to building and expanding this relationship."

As the largest airline in Taiwan, China Airlines operates the island's most extensive and highly regarded international network of passenger and cargo services.

"Expanding our business in Asia has been a long-term strategic goal for BCI. We are excited and honored by the chance to serve such a prominent airline in the region," said Brian Hollnagel, BCI's President and CEO.

China Airlines is always on the look out for ways to broaden its commercial horizons. In 1993, it became the first of Taiwan's airlines to list on the stock exchange. The concerted effort made by its entire staff is well reflected on its results. In 1996, China Airlines' operating revenues out-reached NT$50 billions, and are targeted in excess of NT$100 billions by the year 2003.

To assure long-term growth, China Airlines is investing in related industries. Included in its portfolio are many newly launched companies spanning the fields of civil aviation, airport ground handling, information management, and more. These investments have increased the scope and depth of China Airlines' business operations, assuring prosperity long into the future.

BCI Aircraft Leasing, Inc was founded in 1997 and since then has become one of commercial aviation's leading privately-held operating leasing companies. BCI provides airlines with financial products and services to help them achieve their financial and fleet planning goal. BCI Aircraft Leasing's customer list includes leading airlines such as Air Canada, Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, US Airways, and many other prominent air carriers around the world.
