GDF is an efficient, well organized standard used to collect road network features or attributes and provides rules to describe their inter-relationships. The file format is accepted around the world and is used by the leading developers of navigation systems because of its development advantages -- faster reading of the data, and optimization of file size. GDF size reduction benefits over other file formats can be as high thirty percent.
