MarketAxess Announces Fifth Annual Charity Trading Day

Trading Revenues to Benefit Emerging Markets Charities

NEW YORK and LONDON, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MarketAxess Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: MKTX), the operator of a leading electronic trading platform for U.S. and European high-grade corporate bonds, emerging markets bonds and other fixed income securities, today announced that its fifth annual Charity Trading Day will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2008. In partnership with EMTA (The Trade Association for the Emerging Markets), MarketAxess will donate all emerging markets revenues from the trading day to emerging markets charities.

MarketAxess has raised nearly $400,000 for emerging markets charities from the four previous Charity Trading Days. "MarketAxess has been one of our most important sources of funding for the industry charity events and these worthwhile causes," said EMTA's Jonathan Murno, who chairs and co-chairs the New York and London Benefit Committees, respectively. "We appreciate the generosity of MarketAxess and we encourage the EM trading community to come out in broad support of these charities again this year on Charity Trading Day."

"The Emerging Markets Charity Trading Day is a great source of pride for MarketAxess and an opportunity for the EM trading community to come together and support these meaningful charities," said Richard M. McVey, chairman and chief executive officer of MarketAxess. "Over the past year, we have broadened our emerging markets product offering and successfully entered the local currency EM market, including Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay. This expansion is a reflection of our commitment to the EM space, and we hope the donations generated from our clients' trading activity will meet or exceed previous years."

Nine charities have been selected by benefit committees in New York and London, including:

    -- Cotlands, which provides support for children affected by the HIV/AIDS
        pandemic in South Africa;
    -- Downside Up, which provides support and education for children in Russia
        with Downs Syndrome;
    -- EMpower, which connects the Emerging Markets community with innovative
        grassroots organizations enabling young people to lead healthy,
        productive lives;
    -- Health Unlimited, which provides basic health care to rural communities
        in Africa, Asia and Latin America;
    -- Orphaned Starfish Foundation, which is dedicated to working with orphans
        and disadvantaged children throughout Latin America;
    -- Sri Lanka Care, Hidden List which rebuilds and restores homes
        lost and damaged by the Asian Tsunami;
    -- Task Brasil, which provides shelter and vocational training for street
        children in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil;
    -- WaterPartners International, which promotes health in Latin America,
        Africa and Asia by increasing access to safe drinking water; and,
    -- WorldFund, which provides financial, managerial and technical assistance
        to partner schools in impoverished Latin American neighborhoods.

The total amount of this year's donations will be announced at the emerging markets debt industry's annual London and New York benefits, which are scheduled for on Friday, October 17, 2008 and Thursday, December 4, 2008, respectively.
