Crystalline condominium and hotel tower shines like jeweled crown in heart of Arts District - topping off coincides with Icon Brickell, another Arquitectonica show-stopper.
MIAMI, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Soaring to 700 feet tall, Marquis, Miami's second-tallest building was recently "topped-off," and its completion adds a sleek and geometric addition to the metropolitan skyline. Designed by Miami-based Arquitectonica and developed by Leviev-Boymelgreen Marquis Developers, the Marquis features a unique grid of interlocking glass parallelograms and will serve as a glittering beacon to the Arts and Entertainment District and downtown Miami, bringing new energy, sophistication and "six-star" hotel lifestyle to this already vital cultural center. Partnerships with local cultural institutions -- such as the new Miami Art Museum (MAM) being built in Museum Park -- will offer Marquis' residents free membership and other privileges, automatically making them an integral part of the arts community.
The single-tower, 67-story building -- wrapped in blue tinted glass -- stands regally at the edge of the Biscayne Bay shoreline, and literally reflects the sunlight and water around it. Arquitectonica's founding principal, Bernardo Fort-Brescia, FAIA, notes the structure's angles and gemstone-like shine as being pivotal design elements. "The building will appear to be a sparkling crystal stalagmite formation in the skyline," Fort- Brescia explained. "Using the dynamic light and changing organic environment of Miami, the Marquis will bring a magical and artistic presence, offering the city its own architectural crown jewel." Aesthetic beauty, private luxury
The building's visual statement extends beyond its structural design, blending its park-like atmosphere into the surrounding neighborhood. Entering through either the elaborately landscaped porte-cochere off Northeast 11th Street, or via the lush pedestrian plaza off Biscayne Boulevard, residents and guests of the Marquis will arrive into an environment of aesthetic beauty, creative vitality and refined, private luxury.
The building and grounds of the Marquis are replete with striking artistic touches and expansive vistas. Reflecting ponds, designed by landscape artist Laurinda Spear, FAIA, ASLA, set the atmosphere for the 12th floor pool deck, which is lined on three sides by two-story residential townhouses that provide a sense of enclosure to the deck and homes. The pool deck passes through an eight-story void in the tower, and projects toward Biscayne Boulevard, providing views through to the Bay and beyond to South Beach. At night the void is highlighted by dramatic illumination.
Six-star amenities, world-class views
In addition to its 305 condominiums, the Marquis will house the 56-key boutique hotel QULTURE BY ROCKRESORTS "a world-class hotel, spa, fitness center and restaurant complex," which is slated to become South Florida's first "six-star" boutique hotel. Both residents and hotel guests can enjoy a wide array of opulent in-house concierge services and amenities, as well as some of the most spectacular views of the city. But the Marquis' dazzling views work both ways, as the entire population of Miami can enjoy the glittering beauty and design of the skyline's newest architectural gem.
