Dinyar S. Devitre Named Special Advisor to General Atlantic

GREENWICH, Conn., June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- General Atlantic LLC (GA), a leading global growth equity firm, today announced that Dinyar S. Devitre, the former Chief Financial Officer of Altria Group, a multi-billion dollar consumer products company, and a former Executive Vice President at Citigroup in Europe, has become a Special Advisor to the firm. In this role, Mr. Devitre will provide financial expertise and strategic counsel to GA and its portfolio companies.

Founded in 1980, GA has a long history of identifying, investing in and supporting growth companies in the U.S., Europe and Asia. With a target investment size of $50 million to $500 million, GA manages approximately $17 billion and invests about $2 billion per year in growth opportunities globally. GA's Special Advisor network consists of several experienced industry executives who work closely with GA's investment professionals in identifying new opportunities as well as providing in depth expertise to GA's portfolio companies.

Mr. Devitre served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Altria Group Inc. from 2002 to 2008. He served as Executive Vice President at Citigroup Inc. and Citibank in Europe from 1998 to 2001. Before his assignment at Citigroup, Mr. Devitre's career with the Altria Group family of companies spanned a 27-year period in which he served in a variety of executive positions.

Mr. Devitre is a Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee at Western Union Company. He is also a director at Altria Group and SABMiller Plc. He serves as a Trustee of the Asia Society and Brooklyn Academy of Music and is a director of Lincoln Center Inc. Mr. Devitre earned a B.A. degree at St. Joseph's College in Darjeeling, India, and an M.B.A. from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad.
