Momentive Performance Materials Inc. today introduced Silwet Hydrostable 68 and Silwet Hydrostable 611 superspreaders, two advanced silicone surfactants that may help support a wide range of product performance enhancements for home care, institutional and industrial (HII) formulators. Formulators may use Silwet Hydrostable 68 and Silwet Hydrostable 611 superspreaders to enhance the performance of products such as dishwashing liquid, disinfectants, dishwasher detergent, window cleaners, polishes, automatic car washes, car waxes and other products for automotive surfaces.
Silwet Hydrostable 68 and Silwet Hydrostable 611 superspreaders are organomodified silicones that offer surface tension reduction and superspreading properties. Silwet Hydrostable 68 remains stable in formulations ranging from pH 6 to 8, with improved stability relative to conventional superspreader surfactants, while Silwet Hydrostable 611 is stable in formulations ranging from pH 6 to 11.
By providing immediate spread coverage more than 100 times greater than the corresponding volume of water and 25 times greater than solutions containing conventional surfactants,(1) Silwet Hydrostable 68 and Silwet Hydrostable 611 superspreaders may significantly improve the penetration of a product's active ingredients into cracks and crevices. Associated benefits typically include improved stain removal, anti-fogging, sheeting, quick drying and hard water spot elimination.
